Roles and Responsibilities


  • The Business Analyst acts as the SME on all aspects of EFT Payments solutions and the primary focus is to work both independently and collaboratively with internal business stakeholders, project and technology teams as well as Clients and Vendor/Partners to ensure timely delivery of various payments technology solutions.
  • The Business Analyst will undertake requirements gathering and the creation of Business Requirements Definition documents and Functional Specification as well as Implementation Planning and Business Change documentation.
  • Position scope includes accurate and timely delivery of project documentation to internal stakeholders and external clients. The role requires working independently with minimal supervision using contractual agreements and company procedures as guidelines.
  • The role is client facing and require excellent communication, documentation, planning and coordination skills
  • This specific Offshore Role Requirement - Accountable for the delivery of a specific function as assigned, and work closely with onshore counterparts in respective roles. Predominantly (but not limited to) work on EFT related Projects.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Provide Pre-Sales services and support to the Global Business Solutions (GBS) and Global Financial Services (GFS) division.
  • Identify research, analyse, and document business requirements to ensure client, business and market needs are met. This includes working closely with clients and internal/external stakeholders to clearly understand and address business requirements and solutions.
  • Produce detailed functional specifications from the business requirements.
  • Work with Solution and Enterprise Architects to create, define and assess solution alternatives and strategies in line with Enterprise strategies and Client specific needs.
  • Ensures business and system development methodologies are followed and continuously improved. This includes ensuring clients and stakeholders actively participate in appropriate phases of the process, such as requirements gathering and definition and quality review of design documents.
  • Facilitate requirement analysis and design workshops.

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science and Technology with 6+ years of related IT experience primarily in financial systems applications.
  • Three - five years of experience or equivalent, in an analyst role.

Preferred domain/Industry:

  • 6+ years of related IT experience primarily in financial systems applications
  • Good understanding of EFT - transaction processing fundamentals, different message types
  • Exposure to banking or financial systems applications

Job Related Experience:


Core BA Competencies

  • Solid Knowledge and practical application of Business Analysis techniques and good understanding of BABOK.
  • A tertiary qualification in Information Technology or equivalent.
  • Proven track record of gathering customer requirements, analysing and translating these into solutions, specifications and business processes.
  • Constant Improvement focus Abele to produce lessons learned type documentation to minimise future analysis effort on similar topics and gain overall process efficiencies.

Payments Domain Knowledge

  • Subject Matter Expertise in POS and ATM Driving, Transaction Switching, Card Issuing, Merchant Acquiring, Card Scheme Processing, eCommerce, mCommerce and Payment Gateways
  • 6 or more years of expertise in working as a Senior Business Analyst or Business Analyst within the payments landscape.
  • Good understanding of the current trends in the Payments industry and Emerging Technologies in Payments.
  • Experience on Payment Systems and exposure on Global Payments Processing, Payments Hub, Clearing, Settlement and Reconciliation.
  • Experience in Payments consulting and in depth knowledge of Payments and processing landscape.
  • Experience with one or more products/systems including Connex, Base24, Payment Gateway.
  • Exposure to financial messaging standards like AS2805, ISO8583, VISA, MC, AMEX, GAN, UPI and eftpos hub.
  • Experience in Contact (EMV) and Contactless processing as well as EMV Crypto functions..
  • Experience in credit/debit/prepaid/gift and fuel card processing.
  • Understanding of networking principles related to data transaction processing including TCP/IP and x25 as well as Vpn and MPLS connections.
  • Knowledge and experience in DB queries.
  • Understanding of file delivery and file transfer mechanisms including sFTP etc.

ATM specialist

  • Must be familiar with ATMs and various protocols such as NDC+ as well as ATM driving and ATM management and monitoring tools.
  • Strong preference towards someone who is familiar with FIS ‘Connex’ systems in relation to ATM driving and ATM Load setup.

ECommerce and Acquiring BA

  • Understanding of Card Present processing including EFTPOS terminals (attended and unattended), ATM, mPOS and related systems, including TMS, transaction switching, transaction processing and relative network connectivity solutions.
  • Understanding of Card Not Present transaction processing.
  • Understanding of Key Management and Cryptographic Functions at device, host, and interchange level including working knowledge of EMV crypto functions.
  • Working knowledge of EMV (Acquiring and Issuing), contact and contactless chip cards as well as smart card loyalty applications.
  • Understanding of Digital wallets and Tokenization including 3D Secure
  • Credit Card Scheme Rules and regulations as well as APCA, CECS and Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard compliance.
  • Understanding of ISO8583 and AS2805 protocols in regards to Device Operation
  • Understanding of merchant settlement, funding and chargeback
  • Understanding of merchant on-boarding process

Switching and Issuing BA

  • Understanding of ISO8583 and AS2805 protocols in regards to switching and node to node Issuer connectivity
  • Working knowledge of EMV (Acquiring and Issuing), contact and contactless chip cards as well as smart card loyalty applications.
  • Understanding of Tandem switching platforms (preferably Connex or BASE24).
  • Understanding of card authorisation and Stand-in processing
  • Understand of MasterCard, VISA, UnionPay and other schemes messaging.
  • Credit Card Scheme Rules and regulations as well as APCA, CECS and Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard compliance.
  • Understanding of Digital wallets and Tokenization including 3D Secure

Compliance BA

  • International and Domestic (eftpos) Credit Card Scheme Rules and regulations as well as APCA, CECS and Payment Card Industry (PCI) Data Security Standard compliance.
  • Hands on compliance project experience
  • Knowledge in authorisations processing & clearing formats.
  • Good understanding of scheme manual references.
  • Working experience in various Card Present and Card Not Present transactions types including EMV, Contactless, Tokenization, 3DS, Digital wallets etc.,
  • Cards Lifecycle knowledge would be an added advantage.
  • Working experience in transaction switching, Issuing processors or any Core banking systems.
  • In depth Knowledge about Schemes from technical, business and operations perspective

Additional Skills/Knowledge:

  • Solid knowledge of SDLC and both waterfall and agile methodologies
  • Experience in delivering Payments solutions and products
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to produce high quality documentation
  • Quality focused with strong attention to detail
  • Knowledge of emerging technologies in Payments processing
  • Experience in Waterfall and Agile delivery principles
