Job Description

We are seeking a Facilities Manager on behalf of our client to work in Washington, DC. This is a long term role. The Engineering Assistant assists the Chief of Facilities by working together with him, or independently, or with other in-house employees or contractors on special projects that are typically new requirements for the client. Examples of special projects include, but are not limited to: preparation of statements of work or other project management documents, performing engineering evaluations for the maintenance, repair, and upgrade of client facilities or systems encompassing architectural and structural components including, but not limited to specialized doors, flooring systems, asphalt and concrete driving/walking surfaces, interior and exterior walls, roofs, ceilings and associated electrical and mechanical systems. Assigned work may involve projects where the complexity of the non-conventional nature of the client requires considerable research and investigation for the achievement of requisite results due to the unavailability of applicable precedents and/or industry standards.


The Facilities Manager will bring project management experience - performing surveys and research (reports and drawings), writing SOWs, and then managing contracts—from cradle to grave.


Some local travel required to different sites.


You must have at least ten years of facilities management or engineering related experience in facilities operations, project management, skill in resource coordination, and good written and verbal communications skills. As the position requires the ability to direct complex operations to accomplish mission objectives, a strong background or formal education in an engineering discipline and resource management is necessary. Experience in facilities management at a museum or other cultural institution environment is a plus.
