Job Description
Head of Service Asset & Configuration Management The Service Asset and Configuration Management (SACM) function is responsible for the provision and governance of service assets which provide a logical model of the IT infrastructure within an organisation. They account for all IT assets and services and provide accurate information to support all the other processes. SACM is a management and control discipline that manages and govern exposure to IT technology assets and the management of its configurations. The SACM team in Standard Chartered Bank are the domain owner for the governance arm of this Process area. This function manages and governs Service Asset and Configuration for Standard Chartered Bank globally. Role Responsibilities The Head of SACM role is the single point of contact across Standard Chartered Bank, and is responsible for managing and governance for all aspects of technology asset management and configuration management. This position is accountable for both discovery, management, and sustainment activities, as well as providing strategic thought leadership to meet regulatory and internal standards and time frame commitments. He/she will also define, deliver, and govern policies, standards, processes, and controls to support effective, accurate, and timely technology asset management practices. This role will involve significant engagement of ITIL process owners, Incident, Problem, and Change, IT executives and line of business leaders, and require the ability to rationalize and negotiate through very disparate views to reach common standards and recommendations. This role is also responsible for improving the controls, remediation of issues and permanent governance around these key process areas. SACM Team Responsibilities: Develops and implements Configuration and Asset Management standards, policies, and procedures. Plans the population of the CMDB; owns and manages the CMDB, central libraries, tools and data integrity; ensures CMDB data is current and accurate. Owns the process by which relationships are created and updated in the CMDB, such as key IT and business services and applications to servers and databases, network, storage etc. Works with ISTM Engineering teams (Remedy) to define and deliver the technology solution to support the SACM function. Understands best practices and determines optimized procedures for updating CI data including the use of automated processes, discovery tools/integrations with other data sources, and manual input processes as necessary. Develop and implement best practice standards, policies, and procedures for planning, recording, monitoring and maintenance of software and hardware assets. Defines success metrics and monitoring of Configuration Management and Asset Management processes. Responsible for report generation including configuration status, license consumption, license entitlement, warranty, and other IT asset reporting. Provides coaching and conducts training for CMDB stakeholders to ensure appropriate understanding of the Configuration and Asset Management system and its relationship to Change Management and other key IT processes. Collaborates with other IT process owners and functional areas (e.g. Change Management, Incident, Problem Management, Release Management, etc.) Evaluates industry innovations, maturity, trends, and changes regularly to plan and recommend new strategies. Assists auditors to audit the activities of the Configuration and Asset Management team for compliance with current procedures; ensures corrective action is carried out. Works with the ITSM project to raise awareness and win support for new Configuration and Asset Management procedures; ensures that changes to the Configuration and Asset Management methods and processes are properly approved and communicated to staff before being implemented; plans, publicises and oversees implementation of new/updated Configuration and Asset Management systems. Required Experience 15+ years of technology infrastructure management experience 10+ years experience in Financial Institutions 7+ years of management experience in Asset Management & SACM domain Has operated in large complex Technology organizations within Financial Services Has In-depth knowledge of SACM relationships with information security and compliance Has In-depth experience in BMC Remedy Asset Management Platforms and Discovery Tools. Has knowledge and understanding of defining and managing information governance policies and procedures in a regulatory environment Has strong leadership and change management capability to provide direction to teams. Managed teams of approx. 20 resources across multiple geographic locations.
